John Hates My Hat

Yes, my husband hates my hat. He says it is a disgrace. He feels it should be clean, perfectly formed, and represent me as a "together" person. Well, here is a photo of my hat.

As you can see, it is dirty, crumpled, and generally in shabby condition. And I love it......to me, my hat says "the person who wears this hat has really ridden a horse." It says that I have tackled about everything the trail can throw at me, and made it through (sometimes barely). It says, "The woman under this hat is a horseperson!"

On a different note.....this time of year apples are plentiful. We have a lot of them -- a really good friend of ours has quite a few apple trees in his yard, and he gives us lots of apples. Our animals love this time of year, because we put apples into every feeding. Recently, John and I noticed that Zora "saves" her apple pieces to eat last. Divna will just eat -- if an apple piece comes into her path, she eats it. Zora will actually move the grain aside, eat the grain, and save the apple pieces. She then eats them last. I have watched her do this several times, and today I got a photo of it.

She moved her head aside just long enough for me to get this picture.

And by the way, we had a really nice ride today....a good weekend overall......

Regina I LOVE your hat! Hats say so much about the person who wears them, and that hat screams that the person who wears it is hard working and determined.

LOL at the apple antics!

They are so funny sometimes...and so good with spitting out only what they don't want! Jesse used to hate the raisens in the oatmeal cookies that he would get after lunch on desert rides...and spit them out one by one. However he has now grown fond of them and gets them in his lunch bucket. Costco has big bags that I get and I throw a hand ful in everyday!!!
by the way...LOVE THE HAT!!!

Mine eat the apples first, adding slobber and drool to the mix! They rarely have treats so they absolutely love to find them in grain pans. Our local orchards have bags of what they call horse apples they give away. I pick through them to make a pie and feed the peeling and yucky spots, too.

Quite frankly, I like your hat too! It has a story to tell! I wish we had apple, soon, our little tree is growing!

I have a hat that looks strangely similar to yours, and it's been through a lot of miles with me. So, treasure yours - it's the mark of a true cowgirl. My horses are funny about apples too. Silk could take 'em or leave 'em - she's my carrot puss. But Siete LOVES them and is not so interested in carrots.
